    Firmware Updates for EOS R5, EOS R6, EOS-1D X Mark III

    Thank you for using Canon products.

    We are pleased to share that the following products would be receiving firmware updates that further improves the functionality your Canon product through enhancements and fixes.

    EOS R5 – Firmware Version 1.5.0

    1. Head detection performance is improved to support detection when helmets or goggles are worn during winter sports.
    2. [Vehicles] selection has been added to [Subject to detect] selection in the [AF] tab to support the detection of automobiles and motorcycles in motorsports.
    3. Detection performance is improved for eye detection in the following areas:
      a. when there are shadows on the face.
      b. when bangs are hanging over the eyes.
    4. Torso detection of a human subject is now supported. If the eyes, face or head are hidden or cannot be detected, the torso will be detected and tracked continuously.
    5. When shooting still images, it is now possible to import manual white balance (MWB) data from the Quick Control screen.
    6. The center select function of the multi-controller has been disabled to prevent accidental transfer of images during “FTP transfer operation”.
    7. When the Rating function is assigned to the Protect/Voice memo button, voice memos can now be recorded by pressing and holding the button.
    8. When two cards are inserted, it is now possible to set the recording method and select which card to be the primary or secondary card.
    9. Added [Suppress lower frame rate] to [Smooth] in [Disp. performance]. This enables the shooting screen to be displayed with less drop in frame rate, even in dark locations.
    10. The RF5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens is now supported.
    11. The default value of [FTP server] → [Passive mode] is now set to [Enable].
    12. Improves operation stability during FTP transfer.
    13. Optimizes controls of In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS) when using specific EF lenses not equipped with the image stabilization function.
    14. Fixed a phenomenon, in which noise occurs along the edges of bright subjects when using Canon Log for movie recording.


    EOS R6 – Firmware Version 1.5.0

    1. Head detection performance is improved to support detection when helmets or goggles are worn during winter sports.
    2. [Vehicles] selection has been added to [Subject to detect] selection in the [AF] tab to support the detection of automobiles and motorcycles in motorsports.

    4. When two cards are inserted, it is now possible to set the recording method and select which card to be the primary or secondary card.
    5. The default value of [Connection option settings], [FTP transfer settings], and [Power saving] are now set to [Disable].
    6. The default value of [FTP server] → [Passive mode] is now set to [Enable].
    7. Improves operation stability during FTP transfer.
    8. Fixed a phenomenon, in which noise occurs along the edges of bright subjects when using Canon Log for movie recording.
