    Solution

If you are shooting a subject at close range, and if the subject cannot be easily focused within the normal shooting range, switching from the normal mode to the [Macro] () mode will make it easier to focus on the subject.
      IMPORTANT
      • The position and shape of the operation buttons, screens displayed, and setting items may differ according to the model you use.
      • The following explanations are provided based on the assumption that the [Shooting Mode] is set to [Program] ().
      • The edges of the image may darken if the flash fires.
For more information on the shooting distance of each [Focusing Range] and the shooting modes in which [Focusing Range] settings cannot be made, please refer to the table at the end of the page.

      1. Press the <Power> button to turn the camera on.

      2. Press the <Macro> () button.

      3. The following screen appears.

Press the [ ], [ ] buttons to choose [Macro] (), and then press the <FUNC./SET> () button.

Once the setting is complete, [Macro] () is displayed on the LCD Monitor.

      REFERENCE
      • Try attaching the camera to a tripod and shooting in [Self-Timer] () mode to prevent the camera from moving and blurring the image.
      NOTE
      • The screen indications when operating the <Zoom lever> in [Macro] () mode are as follows.
When you move the <Zoom lever>, the [Zoom bar] appears on the screen.
In the yellow bar display area below the zoom bar, () will turn gray and the camera will not focus.

The shooting distance for each [Focusing Range] is as shown in the following table (from the end of the lens). If you shoot beyond the following ranges, the subject may be out of focus.
Also, the [Focusing Range] cannot be set in some shooting modes. Please see the following table for details.
