    Solution

    If error messages appear on the screen, try one of the following solutions.
    Message displayed Solution
    No memory card The memory card may be inserted facing the wrong way. Reinsert the memory card facing the correct way.
    Cannot record! Shooting was attempted without a memory card in the camera. To shoot, insert a memory card facing the correct way.
    Memory card error The memory card may be malfunctioning. You may be able to solve this problem by formatting the memory card (low level formatting).

    If the same error message is displayed even after you have formatted a supported memory card and have inserted it facing the correct way, contact a Canon Customer Support Help Desk
    Insufficient space on card There is not enough free space on the memory card to shoot or edit images. Either erase unneeded images or insert a memory card with enough free space
    Touch AF unavailable Touch AF is not available in the current shooting mode
    Touch AF canceled The subject selected for Touch AF can no longer be detected.
    Charge the battery Battery charge is insufficient to operate the camera. Replace it at once with a charged one or recharge the battery.
    No Image. The memory card does not contain any images that can be displayed.
    Protected! It may not be possible to erase images that were protected on other cameras or a computer, to prevent accidental erasure.

    • Unsupported or corrupt images cannot be displayed.
    • It may not be possible to display images that were edited or renamed on a computer, or images shot with another camera.

    Unselectable image.
    No identification information
    The following functions may be unavailable for images that were renamed or already edited on a computer, or images shot with another camera. Note that starred (*) functions are not available for movies.
    Magnify* , Favorites , Rotate , Edit* , Photobook Set-up* , and Edit ID Info*
    Exceeded selection limit• More than 998 images were selected for Photobook Set-up. Choose 998 images or less.
    • Photobook Set-up settings could not be saved correctly. Reduce the number of selected images and try again.
    • You attempted to choose more than 500 images in Erase, Favorites, or Photobook Set-up.
    Communication error An excessive amount of images (approx. 1,000) on the memory card prevented printing or image transfer to a computer. To transfer the images, use a commercially available USB card reader. To print, insert the memory card directly into the printer card slot.
    Naming error! The folder could not be created or images could not be recorded, because the highest supported folder number (999) for storing images on the card has been reached and the highest supported image number (9999) for images in folders has been reached. Format the memory card.
    Formatting a Memory Card
    Lens Error• This error may occur if the lens is held while it is moving, or when the camera is used in dusty or sandy locations.
    • Frequent display of this error message may indicate camera damage. In this case, contact a Canon Customer Support Help Desk.
    A camera error was detected (error number)• If this error message is displayed immediately after a shot, the image may not have been saved. Switch to Playback mode to check for the image.
    • Frequent display of this error message may indicate camera damage. In this case, write down the error number (Exx) and contact a Canon Customer Support Help Desk.
    File Error Correct printing may not be possible for photos from other cameras or images that have been altered using computer software, even if the camera is connected to the printer.
    Print error Restart the printer and complete the setting on the camera again.
    Ink absorber full Contact a Canon Customer Support Help Desk to request assistance with ink absorber replacement.

    Connection failed • No access points were recognized. Check the access point settings.
    • A device could not be found. Turn the camera off and on again, and retry the connection.
    • Check the device you want to connect to and make sure it is ready for connection.
    Cannot determine access point The WPS buttons on numerous access points were pressed simultaneously. Try reconnecting again.
    No access points found • Check to make sure that the access point is turned on.
    • When connecting to an access point manually, make sure that you entered the correct SSID.
    Incorrect Wi-Fi encryption key
    Incorrect Wi-Fi security settings
    Check the access point security settings
    IP address conflict Reset the IP address so that it does not conflict with another.
    Disconnected

    Sending failed
    • You may be in an environment where Wi-Fi signals are obstructed.
    • Avoid using the camera’s Wi-Fi function around microwave ovens, Bluetooth devices, and other devices that operate on the 2.4 GHz band.
    • Bring the camera closer to the other device you are trying to connect to (such as the access point), and make sure there are no objects between the devices.
    • Check the connected device to make sure it is not experiencing errors.

    Receiving failed
    Insufficient space on card
    There is not enough free space on the memory card to receive images. Erase images to create space on the memory card, or insert a memory card with sufficient space.

    Naming error!
    When the highest folder number (999), and the highest image number (9999) have been reached on the receiving camera, images cannot be received.
    Insufficient space on serverDelete unnecessary images uploaded to CANON iMAGE GATEWAY to create space.
    Save the images sent via a server on your computer.
    SSL certificate not valid
    Connect to a computer, use the supplied software to reset
    Check to make sure the date/time settings on the camera are correct. After confirming that the settings are correct, follow the on-screen instructions and reset the settings.
