Wireless Setup Using Easy Setup
- The information you need to have, in order to complete the wireless LAN setup manually.
In most cases, "Easy Setup" will be used to connect the machine to your access point or router. Before you continue, you must gather the following information which will be required during the installation.
- Access Point Name/Network Name
* Also referred to as SSID.
An identifier to identify the specific access point.
- Network Key
* Also referred to as encryption key, WEP key or WPA/WPA2 passphrase, Pre-Shared key.
A password to prevent unauthorized access to the network.

(1) Press the Setup button (A).
(2) Use the

button (B) to select Wireless LAN setup.
(3) Press the OK button.

Use the

button (C) to select Yes, then press the OK button.
When wireless connection is enabled, the Wi-Fi lamp (D) lights blue.

Select Easy setup, then press the OK button.
4.
Select the access point name you wrote down, then press the OK button.
REFERENCE
- Access points in use nearby may also be detected.
- The access point names with 2-byte characters are not displayed properly, however, can be selected.

When one of the above screens is displayed, enter the network key you wrote down using the Numeric buttons (E), then press the OK button.
If the above screen is not displayed, go to 7.
Press the
button to switch character entry modes.
Network key entry is case-sensitive. Be sure to enter upper and lower case letters correctly.
REFERENCE
This machine allows you to enter characters using the Numeric buttons (E). Follow the procedure below.
1. Press the
button of the Numeric buttons to switch to the character entry mode you want to use.
- Three character entry modes (numeric, upper case and lower case) are available. Each time you press the button, the entry mode displayed on the upper right of the screen changes between numeric 123, upper case ABC and lower case abc.
2. Enter characters using the Numeric buttons.
- Multiple characters are assigned to each key. Press a key to toggle character options for that key.
3. Repeat 1 and 2 to enter more characters.
* To enter characters assigned to the same key successively (e.g., enter "N" then "O"), press the
button (B)to move the cursor by one character to the right first.
* To insert a space, move the cursor to the target position using the
or
button, then press the left FUNCTION button (F).
* To insert characters, move the cursor to the character on the right of the target position using the
or
button, then enter characters.
* To delete a character, move the cursor to the target character using the
or
button, then press the right FUNCTION button (G).
6.
Make sure that the network key is correct, then press the OK button.
7.
When the above screen appears, press the OK button.
REFERENCE
- If Failed to connect to the access point. appears, press the OK button, make sure that the network key is correct, then enter it again. If a connection still cannot be established, refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting.
Install the Software (Network Connection)
- To use the machine by connecting it to a computer, software including the drivers needs to be copied (installed) to the computer’s hard disk. The installation process takes about 20 minutes. (The installation time varies depending on the computer environment or the number of application software to be installed.)
IMPORTANT
- Quit all applications before installation.
- If the firewall function of your security software displays a warning message, set the security software to always allow access.
- Log on as the administrator (or a member of the Administrators group).

Turn on the computer, then insert the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
The setup program starts automatically.
REFERENCE
- If the program does not start automatically, double-click the CD-ROM icon in Computer or My Computer, then double-click MSETUP4.EXE.
2. Windows 7/Windows Vista
Windows XP -> 3
Click Run Msetup4.exe on the AutoPlay screen, then click Yes or Continue on the User Account Control dialog box.
If the User Account Control dialog box reappears in following steps, click Yes or Continue.

Select your place of residence, then click Next.

- If the Select Language screen appears, select a language, then click Next.

Select a country or region, then click Next.

Click Easy Install.
The drivers, application software, and on-screen manuals are installed.

- If you want to select particular items to install, click Custom Install.

Select Use the printer with wireless LAN connection, then click Next.
Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
8.
When the Printer Detection screen appears, click Next.
9.
When the Detected Printers List dialog box appears, select Canon xxx series, then click Next.
IMPORTANT

When the Setup Completion dialog box appears, click Complete.
Install the Software (Information)
1.
Click Next.
Follow any on-screen instructions to proceed with the software installation.
- Important Information for the Installation
- If the serial number is not displayed on the registration screen, input the number found inside the machine.
IMPORTANT
- If the power is on, the FINE Cartridge Holder will move when the Scanning Unit (Cover) (A) is opened.
REFERENCE
- The User Registration screen will only be displayed when Europe, Middle East, Africa is selected on the Select Your Place of Residence screen.
- If the Extended Survey Program screen appears
If you can agree to Extended Survey Program, click Agree.
If you click Do not agree, the Extended Survey Program will not be installed. (This has no effect on the machine’s functionality.)

Click Exit to complete the installation.
3.
Solution Menu EX starts.
Remove the Setup CD-ROM and keep it in a safe place.
