Checking the Camera Shake Warning and Setting the ISO Speed (High ISO Auto)

If images blur, check the [Camera Shake Warning] when shooting images. The [Camera Shake Warning] appears when the camera detects the environmental conditions that are likely to cause camera shake.

    NOTE:
    -
To select an item displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor, press the camera’s buttons ( ) (right, left, up, and down). To finalize the selection, press the <FUNC./SET> button ( ).
    -
The screens and settings displayed may differ according to the model being used.

When you have confirmed the Camera Shake Warning ( ) , set the ISO Speed to High ISO Auto ( ) .

    1. When pressing the Shutter Button halfway, check the icons displayed on the LCD monitor. The [Camera Shake Warning] () icon appears at the bottom left of the LCD monitor.

If the [Camera Shake Warning] () appears, taking the following steps will help.

    - Increase the [ISO Speed] setting.
    - Fix the camera in place using a tripod.

You may not always have a tripod with you, so these instructions explain how to increase the [ISO Speed] setting. Increasing the [ISO Speed] increases the shutter speed and reduces camera shake and subject blurriness.

    2. When the [Camera Shake Warning] icon () appears, increase the [ISO Speed] setting. Set the <Mode Dial> to <Manual> () or <AUTO> ().

    3. Press the <ISO> () Button.

    4. The following window appears.

Press the button shown at to display [ISO Speed] as shown at . The setting changes each time you press the <ISO> Button () . Select [High ISO Auto] ()* here.
Press the <FUNC./SET> button () located at .

*If you select [AUTO] () or [High ISO Auto] (), the camera sets the appropriate ISO Speed according to the brightness at the time of shooting. In dark places, the ISO Speed automatically increases, which increases the shutter speed and reduces camera shake. If you select High ISO Auto (), the setting of the ISO Speed is set even higher than in Auto (). Accordingly, the shutter speed increases even more, and camera shake and subject blurriness decrease compared to Auto () .

    5. If the following icon appears, the setting is complete.

    -
If the [Camera Shake Warning] icon () appears even after you set the [ISO Speed] to [High ISO Auto] (), please fix the camera in place using a tripod. If you have fixed the camera in place with a tripod, you do not need to adjust the [ISO Speed] to prevent camera shake.
    -
If you set the [ISO Speed] to [High ISO Auto] (), noise may increase in images taken compared with those taken in [Auto] ().

This completes the process of adjusting the ISO Speed (High ISO Auto).
