Solution
When an image is blurry or cannot be brought into focus during shooting, please check the following.
IMPORTANT
- The following section explains the setting procedures when the camera's [Shooting Mode] has been set to [Program AE] ( ).
You can prevent camera shake by holding the camera firmly.
- Place the strap around your wrist.
- When shooting, keep your arms close to your body and hold the camera securely to prevent it from moving. If you have raised the flash, do not rest your fingers on it.
2. When the Camera Shake Icon Appears
A blinking [Camera Shake Icon] [
] may be displayed when you press the shutter button halfway in camera-shake inducing, low-light conditions.
Please refer to the following instructions on how to prevent camera shake.
- Set the [IS mode] to [Continuous].
Turn the camera on.
Press the [ MENU ] button and choose the [
] tab. Press the [
] or [
] buttons and choose [IS Settings], then choose [Continuous] in [IS Mode] by pressing the [
] or [
] buttons.
- Set the flash to [ : ON (Flash Always Fires)].
Move the [
] switch to raise the flash, press the [
] button to choose a flash mode and then press the [
] or [
] buttons to set the flash to [
: ON (Flash Always Fires) ].
- Increase the [ISO speed].
Press the [
] button, choose [
] from the menu, and then choose the desired [ISO speed].
NOTE
The [ISO speed] can only be set in [ P ] mode.
- Attach the camera to a tripod.
It is advised to set the [IS Mode] to [Off] when shooting with a tripod.
- Press the [Shutter Button] halfway to focus on the subject, then press fully to shoot.
Half-press the [Shutter Button] (press lightly to focus), and then press it fully (without releasing the [Shutter Button], press it all the way down).
- Set the [AF-assist Beam] to [On].
Press the power button.
Press the [MENU] button and choose the [
] tab.
Press the [
] or [
] buttons and set the [AF-assist Beam] to [On].
- Confirm that functions which you do not intend to use (macro, etc.) are not set.
Press the power button.
Press the [
] button to select a suitable [Focus Range].
You can recompose the image by holding the shutter button halfway down (first aim the camera to capture the subject in an AF frame, and then hold the shutter button halfway down; recompose the shot as desired and then press the shutter button all the way down).
4. When No AF Frames are Displayed and the Camera Does Not Focus
To have [AF frames] displayed and the camera focus correctly, try composing the shot with higher-contrast subject areas centered and then press the [Shutter button] halfway, or press the [Shutter button] halfway repeatedly.
NOTE
For some shooting scenes and subjects, the camera might not focus correctly.
