Solution
Raise the [ISO speed] to use a fast shutter speed when you wish to reduce the effects of camera shake or avoid blurry subjects, or to turn the flash off when shooting in a dark area.
CAUTION
- In this section, [PowerShot A495] is used as an example to explain the operations. Depending on your model, the position of buttons, screen indications, and setting items may vary.
- The following explanations are provided based on the assumption that the [Shooting Mode] is set to [Program AE] (
). - Explanations are provided by using an example where the [ISO Speed] settings have never been changed.
- To set the [ISO Speed], it is necessary to set the [Shooting Mode] to one of the following modes.

4. If the following icon is shown, the setting is complete (if setting [ISO Speed] to 400).
CAUTION
- Raising the [ISO Speed] increases the shutter speed and allows the flash to reach subjects at far distances. Therefore, it is possible to shoot images with less subject blur or camera shake even in dark places.
- However, the higher the [ISO Speed], the more the noise stands out (more uneven areas in an image).
- Lowering the ISO speed results in sharper images, but there may be an increased chance of image blurring in certain shooting conditions.
