Braving through fire and brimstone, this is how CEO and Founder of MHC Asia Group, Dr Low Lee Yong, describes his experience of turning his company from the brink of bankruptcy into one that earned him the prestigious ASME (Association of Small and Medium Enterprises) Entrepreneur of the Year Award last year.
Improving productivity in the way the company does its business, Dr Low automated a wide array of patient services such as the filing of medical claims online, creating a virtual membership card for patients so they need not carry an actual card when visiting a doctor, the introduction of a clinic locater app that tells the patient automatically where is the nearest clinic, and providing email and sms appointment reminders for patients. Dr Low even took it upon himself to educate his staff on soft skills such as consumer centric customer service, and to keep his staff motivated through rewards and recognition.
But perhaps what might surprise you most is Dr Low’s belief that the goal of entering business shouldn’t be just about enriching oneself but society as a whole. In that way, business can touch lives.
