    Issue

    <CLOSE COVER/TONER COVER> is displayed on the LCD.
    <CLOSE COVER/TONER COVER> is displayed on the LCD.

    Cause and Solution

    The toner cover is not closed completely.
    Check the toner cover, and make sure that it is completely closed.
    Install Toner Cartridge
    1. Remove the toner cartridge from the bag.

    Replacing the Toner Cartridge
    When the toner is running low, the message <TONER LOW/PREPARE NEW TONER> appears on the LCD. We recommend that you prepare a new toner cartridge for future replacement with ease.
    When the message <OUT OF TONER/CHANGE TONER> appears, redistribute toner in the toner cartridge. If the message persists, replace the toner cartridge with a new one. When toner empty error occurs while receiving fax, printing fax is interrupted and the received data will be stored in the memory.

    Clear Jams
    When <CHECK DOCUMENT>, <PAPER JAM> or <PAPER JAM/OPEN REAR COVER> appears on the LCD display, remove jammed paper from the machine first, then from the paper cassette or multi-purpose tray if necessary. Check the following if you experience repeated paper jams:
    • Fan and tap the paper stack on a flat surface before loading it in the machine.
    • Check that the paper you are using meets the requirements for use. For details, see Paper Requirements.
    • Make sure you have removed any scraps of paper from the inside of the machine.
